First of all my apologies for not being very much regular these days in posting my articles. I have been caught up in one or other issues these days. I apologize for it.

Also, i have changed the look of my blog. Better than previous i think. I am also working and sorting out my affiliates and will post an article revealing various different affiliates i am affiliated with and generate my income through them. I will also be having a Blog Income meter that will be updated as and when i earn money. I sincerely, hope you all are having great time reading my articles and make money yourself through it.

What is Pay-Per-Play Media?

NetAudioAds Pay-Per-Play (PPP) is an online media channel that plays 5 second audio advertisements on websites that place the PPP code on their web pages.

Blog Income Report: December 2007

When i started blogging 6-7 months ago, I started of sheer passion for Technology. I was not sure that after 7 months i would reach a stage where i would be earning revenue through it and set up a website of my own - Hitarth Jani Dot Com.

In these 6-7 months duration i have affiliated myself with many affiliations. The tempo of earning revenue through my blog was settled when i first received my Google Adsense income in August - $100.49. Since then i have been blindly reading lots of information available over the net and affiliating myself with the various programs available on the internet.

From this month onwards i have decided to give a short blog income report so that my readers and people all over the world come to know how efficient and easy it is to make money online.

Total Blog Income for December 2007: $110.34

Despite lower traffic due to the holidays, the blog still managed to post its second highest income figure to date. Here’s the breakdown.

Blog traffic for December was very low due to holidays still i manage to get more than what i got previously in August - 2007. Better put on your seatbelt. It’s going to be a wild ride!

Casual blogging enticing advertisers

Zach Brooks pocketed $1,000 this month blogging about the cheap lunches he discovers around midtown Manhattan ($10 or less, preferably greasy and if he's lucky, served from a truck).

The site, Midtownlunch.com, is just a year and a half old and gets only about 2,000 readers daily, but it's already earning him enough each month for a weekend trip to the Caribbean -- or in his case, more fat-filled culinary escapades in the city.

In the vast and varied world of blogging, Brooks is far from alone.

It's no longer unusual for blogs with just a couple thousand daily readers to earn nearly as many dollars a month. Helping fill the pockets of such bloggers are programmes like Google's AdSense and many others that let individuals -- not just major publications -- tap into the rapidly growing pot of advertising dollars with a click of the mouse.

In 2006, advertisers spent $16.9 billion online, up steadily each year from $6 billion in 2002, according to the Internet Advertising Bureau. In the first half of 2007, online advertising reached nearly $10 billion, a nearly 27 per cent increase over the first half of 2006.

“Little technical skill is needed to publish a well-read blog, meaning just about anyone with something worthwhile to say can find an audience”, said Kim Malone Scott, director of online sales and operations for Google's AdSense. “That's attracted greater readership and advertising dollars”, she added.

According to 2006 survey by the Pew Internet and American Life Project, 39 per cent of Internet users, or about 57 million American adults, said they read blogs, up from 27 per cent in 2004 or 32 million.

That doesn't mean bloggers are suddenly flush with money. For every blogger earning a decent side income like Brooks, countless others will never earn a cent.

But with the right mix of compelling content and exposure, a blog can draw a dedicated following, making advertising a low-hanging fruit.

“This is really a continuation of how the Web in general has enabled smaller businesses and individuals to compete if not at a level playing field, at least a more equitable level,” said David Hallerman, a senior analyst with the research group eMarketer.

Google's AdSense is an automated programme that places targeted advertising on sites big and small. Other programmes such as PayPerPost are just as user friendly; bloggers sign up and advertisers cherry pick where they want to place ads based on categories and the number of impressions a site captures.

Getting paid might even help validate what may otherwise seem like a silly or obscure obsession.

For Samuel Chi, BCSGuru.com started as a way to demystify the convoluted universe of college football rankings for fellow fans.

Chi, a former sports journalist with training in statistics, posts his calculations every Saturday night during the season before official results are released on Sunday. Between Saturday night and Monday, about 4,000 sports fans log on daily to check out the “guru's” forecast.

This season, Chi made about $8,000 total from the blog; ticket brokers contacted him directly after word about his site got out. Google's AdSense brought in another couple hundred dollars for Chi, the owner of a bed-and-breakfast in Amelia Island, Fla.

Neither Chi nor Brooks had to do much to gain a loyal readership; when it comes to such rarefied interests, word about a good site can spread rapidly in online communities.

“All it takes is a couple of mentions (on other sites) and hundreds of people can be directed to your site,” Chi said.

BlogAds, which helps advertisers target relevant blogs for a commission, prices ads by the week, with sites tiered by the amount of traffic they get.

When the company started in 2002, founder Henry Copeland said it was mainly small advertisers selling T-shirts or promoting bands. Now he said “there's no big brand that doesn't advertise on everyday blogs.”

About a third of BlogAds' 1,500 sites earn between $200 and $2,000 a month, Copeland said. These sites get anywhere from 3,000 to 50,000 daily impressions.

Google's Malone Scott said access to advertising online is more democratic, since an ad click from a tiny site is just as valuable as a click from a site with a million readers.

Some advertisers have even found better response from smaller sites with more passionate, engaged audiences.

For ticket broker RazorGator, advertising on blogs like BCSGuru.com means reaching a very specific audience.

“We have found that more and more sports fans are turning to blogs and smaller fan sites to get their information so as an advertiser it makes sense to follow your audience,” spokeswoman Toni Lamb wrote in an email.

The broker has advertised on smaller blogs like Chi's for the past two years; Lamb would not specify how many blogs it currently advertises on.

Despite rapidly rising advertising dollars online, blogs usually don't start out as a way to make money -- they're more a means of speaking to an audience of like-minded individuals. MidtownLunch.com started as a way for Brooks to indulge his food obsession, but he soon realised his quest struck a note with a legion of office workers.

Taking that extra step to get advertising was a no-brainer. Companies like Random House's Broadway Books have posted ads for food books on the site, along with the makers of independent films seeking a New York City audience.

Brooks only spends two hours at most each day on MidtownLunch.com. But the blog affects his life in other ways.

Like Chi, he met close friends through his site. He has also scored freelance writing assignments, and, above all, the site has given his endless fascination with greasy foods a sense of validation.

Google Adsense - Reports Page (All Time Earnings)

I am just excited with the ways things are going for me with Google Adsense at the moment. My blogs all over the Net has fetched me with amount of $139.00 so far. For a blogger like me that isn't too bad. It won’t allow you to quit your job but it is a pretty decent part time income. There are a few things to note however:

Ads Placement:
I have been playing around with the placement of Ads blocks on my blogs and websites. I have tried all Ads blocks from Text Ads and Image Ads. The best performing Ads block has been the inline box ads eg. Technicism.
The percentage of clicks have been twice than that from other Ads blocks. This is not surprising since it’s the biggest ad and it’s embedded right into the blog post itself. I would like to know how you feel about this. Do you find the ad too intrusive? Does it turn you away from the blog? Feedback on my ad placement would be welcome.

So far, Google is the only monetization method used on the blog. Adding other revenue streams like text link ads, affiliate deals and Vibrant Media can easily double blog income. However, for this month I will just run the Google ads and nothing else on my Websites.

I have decided to donate the income from the blog to Child Education Trust. Hitarth Jani dot Com is my personal blog and making a profit from it just seems strange to me. Please note, I am not downing anyone who makes money off his or her personal blog - I think that is great.

Click fraud occurs when a person, automated script, or computer program imitates a legitimate user of a web browser generate any click on an ad. These clicks are done for the purpose of either to drain competitor’s marketing budget or generate advertising income.

To prevent AdSense click fraud and protect your AdSense business, you should install a more sophisticated AdSense tracking tool and monitoring software, such as Adlogger, Sitemeter, Addfreestats, Extremetracking, etc on your AdSense website. You should constantly monitor your AdSense site using those AdSense tracking tool in conjunction with your Google AdSense channel.

With a more complex tracking tools installed on your website, it would be easier for you to spot any unusual and suspicious click activities on your websites. Once you have discovered unusual or suspicious activities on your AdSense site, you can alert your PPC companies (in this case Google Adsense Support Team) about these activities immediately and let them investigate the problem. This will provide your AdSense business minimum protection against click fraud.

Some of those advanced tracking tools will give you extra tracking information and features which are not provided at your AdSense Channel. Since the tracker have different technology, then they have their own stats and behavior for your site. How Google detects click fraud

We always hear that Google has a sophisticated system to detect the invalid clicks, and result in termination of the cheaters’ account. But, how can Google do that? In this post, I summarize those ways that Google depends on to detect whether the clicks on your site are invalid or not. Google will not first ban your account immediately. Rather, they will first flag your account and Google will keep a closer eye to your account. In some occasion, they may send you a warning letter to notify your situation; but sometimes not.

1. IP Address

It is the easist and must be recognized by everyone. If those clicks on your ads are originated from the same IP Address as the one used for accessing your AdSense account, your account is flagged.

2. Click Through Rate (CTR)

Normally, Click thru Rate should not excees 10%. Otherwise, Google will flag your account. For your information, normal CTR should ranges from 0.5% - 10%.

3. Physical Location

Google has good tracing software and technology.They can trace traffics origin down to the small town. So, using different computers with different IP address does not secure anything. So, don’t try to click your ads in various internet cafes. That will kill you.

4. Cookies

Most home users do not use static IP Address for Internet connection. In most cases just disconnect and reconnect will give you a new IP Address. But don’t forget, Google has set cookies on your computer. They can trace these cookies and see whether they originate from the same computer.

It’s as simple as that.

If you want to make money online, you have to first believe that you CAN make money online.

If you think everything out there is a scam, or only works for the “gurus” or [insert negative outlook here] then you’re probably right. It probably won’t work for you. Go back to your j.o.b., continue hating your boss and get off my website, get off my mailing list.

In fact, there are so many ways to make money online I’ve got notebooks full of to-do’s, ideas and potential products all waiting in the wings for me.

Take a product like Social Media Riches, contribute some content to the sites inside and you will make money. If you look at the salespage and say, “Wow, that’s bull, there’s no way that’ll work,” then, duh, it won’t. Since you won’t act on it.But this post isn’t about Social Media Riches or any other particular program or method.

Take blogging, for example. There’s all kinds of tutorials on how to make money blogging (perhaps I’ll review my favorites in the future). The biggest mistake people continue to make, despite being warned over and over not to do this, is to write a crappy blog on making money online when you’re the biggest n00bie on the block.

That’s nothing against being a noobie, it’s just apparent in reading a newbie’s writing that they don’t know what the heck they’re taking about. So no one is going to buy from you. Plus, you site won’t rank well since the site is new, you’re new and no one gets any value from your writings.

That said, I’ve seen newbies do interesting stuff along the lines of, “I’m new to internet markeitng and will be sharing my journey.” Nothing wrong with that, and one can develop a great community of people starting out together with a blog like that. But if you’re trying to appear as an expert when you’re not, people will see right through you.

So, if you want to make money online by blogging and you’re new to IM, pick a topic that’s NOT internet marketing. Then update frequently, establish yourself on a social network or two as an expert in your niche and go to town.

Don’t get involved in multi-level offerings that sound too good to be true, despite all the “proof” you’re shown. MLM really only works if you’ve already got some clout. So don’t set yourself up for disappointment.

Spend some freakin’ money. You do need to invest in your business. Tools make things easier. Don’t go buy every whiz-bang you see mentioned if it doesn’t fit in with your current objectives, but get some good web hosting (don’t reply on free sites or MySpace or whatever to host your page, although they should be a part of your overall strategy) and a reputable ebook or software that really fits in with what you want to do online.

Finally…

Do not expect the world to be handed to you on a silver platter. Expect to do some work and expect to have to figure things out on your own at times. Expect frustration. Then fix it and be proud of yourself for what you’ve accomplished.

5 Steps to getting paid

1. Check your address

Since payments are sent to the mailing address submitted with your application, it's important to confirm the accuracy of your contact information and payee name. If you need to correct any information:

Log into your account at https://www.google.com/adsense

* Select the My Account tab.
* Click the edit link adjacent to Payee Information and update the appropriate fields.
* Click Save Changes to update your account, or Cancel to exit without saving.

For security reasons, you cannot change the Payee Name or Country fields once your application has been approved. If you need to make changes to either of these fields, please contact them and request that they close your account. Once your request has been processed, you will then be able to submit a new application with the corrected payee name and mailing address.

2. Provide your tax information

In addition to confirming your contact information, you'll need to submit your tax information so that you may become eligible to receive a payment from Google. They're required to collect tax-related information from all AdSense publishers, including publishers who are based outside of the U.S. , and they're unable to send payment to you until your information has been submitted. So don't skip this step!

If you haven't yet submitted your tax information, click the Tax Information link from the My Account tab. From this page, an easy-to-use wizard interface will help guide you to the appropriate online forms. You're able to submit most forms online, and they'll give you instructions on submitting any other forms that may be required.

3. Select your form of payment

Depending on your payment address, there may be a number of payment options available to you — I suggest you read What forms of payment are available to me? in the AdSense Support center to learn about each option. Once you've decided how you'd like to be paid, click the Payment Information [edit] link from the My Account tab of your AdSense account. Follow the instructions on that page to select your form of payment. Your payments will be held until you have selected a form of payment.

4. Enter your PIN

Once you've earned $50 in combined AdSense for content and AdSense for search earnings, they'll mail a Personal Identification Number to the payment address in your account. You'll need to enter this PIN into your account before they can send any payments to you. Your PIN will be sent by standard post and will take 2-3 weeks to arrive.

5. Generate $100 in earnings

When your total unpaid earnings reach $100, they'll send you a payment at the end of the next month. For example, if your total unpaid earnings reached $100 during January and you completed the 4 steps above, they would send you a payment at the end of February.

If your total unpaid earnings haven't yet reached $100, they'll roll over to the next month and accrue until they meet the $100 threshold.
Payment is disbursed within approximately 30 days of the end of the month — to see the timeline of our payment cycle, read the Payment Timelines section below.

Tracking Account Performance

You can track the performance of your AdSense for content ads and your AdSense for search pages from the Reports tab of your publisher account. The Reports tab includes two sub-tabs: Overview and Advanced Reports. There's also important information included in the Payment History table, which is linked from the Overview as well as the My Account tab.

Overview: this screen provides you with quick access to today's earnings, in addition to your page impressions, clicks, clickthrough rate, effective CPM, and earnings for several pre-set date ranges (if you don't know what these terms mean, we've provided a Glossary at https://www.google.com/adsense/glossary). Overall AdSense for content and AdSense for search statistics displayed on this page can be expanded to show data for top-performing channels. You can also view predefined Quick Reports by clicking the links at the bottom of the page.

Note: if you're viewing Channel reports, the data is delayed two days before appearing in your reports. This gives them time to synchronize the data across all channels, but means that you won't see any results if you select a date range within the last two days.

Advanced Reports: Using the Advanced Reports page, you can create customized reports by choosing a product, a date range and any channels. Page impressions, clicks, clickthrough rate, effective CPM, and earnings for any dates and options you prefer can be displayed from this page.

Payment History: This page tracks the status of previously issued payments, as well as monthly account calculations. You can click the Earnings... line item for any month in this table to view your AdSense for content and AdSense for search earnings, as well as any adjustments made to your account. Once you've qualified for a payment, and your check has been sent for printing or your EFT payment queued up, you'll see it listed on this page as Payment.... Click on the link to see the payment details as well as the exchange rate used to calculate your local currency payment, if applicable.

Payment Timelines or, "When am I paid?"

One of the more common questions we receive at AdSense support is, "when am I paid?" This is, in my opinion, a very justifiable question - after all, AdSense is designed to provide an easy way to monetize your content pages, and that includes regular payment.

This section will describe the payment cycle of your AdSense account, so that you'll have a good idea of when and how your payment will arrive.

Earnings calculated: On the last day of each month, our system identifies all accounts that have earned $100 or more in valid user clicks. This figure is calculated from your unpaid earnings - if you earned $40 one month, and $70 the next, you're eligible for payment. All accounts with $100 or more are then sent for approval. Earnings details will be posted to the Payment History page of all publisher accounts within the next few days.

Payment calculated: Within the next few weeks, a 'Payment' line item will be posted to your account's Payment History page (found below the My Account tab) when your payment has been calculated.

At this time, they'll have your check printed and in the mail, or your Electronic Funds Transfer payment initiated. All checks are made out to the Payee Name entered in your account; EFT payments are sent to the bank account specified in the Payment Information section of the My Account tab.

Payment arrives: The time it takes for your payment to arrive depends on form of payment you have selected. Generally, publishers in the U.S. will receive regular delivery checks within 1-2 weeks of the mailing date, while publishers outside of the U.S. will typically receive their regular delivery check in 2-3 weeks. Secure Delivery will generally arrive in 5-7 days, and EFT payments should arrive in your bank account within 2-4 days. If there are any problems with your EFT or check, a notice will be posted on your Payment History page. If you haven't received your secure delivery or EFT payment by the 5th of the next month, you can request a reissue by contacting us. Publishers using standard delivery can request a reissue on the 25th.

Holding Payments

If for any reason you would prefer not to receive your check at any time, they're happy to hold payments for you.
If you'd like to pause your payments, you may do so from within your publisher account. Setting a payment self-hold will stop payments until you update your preference and remove the hold. Your account will continue to accrue earnings, and we'll send you a single consolidated payment during the first payment cycle after you remove your hold. To modify your hold preference:

1. Log in to your account at www.google.com/adsense
2. Click the My Account tab
3. Click the edit link in the Payment Holding section
4. To start a payment self-hold, select the Hold Payment checkbox and click Save. To end a hold and resume regular payments, deselect the checkbox and click Save.

Please note that all changes to your hold preferences should be made by the 15th of the month. Changes made to these settings after the 15th of the month may apply to either the current or next payment cycle.

You have started your blog, steadily built up traffic and have started monetizing with Adsense. Your first month of income comes and you are happy with what you have made! Do you stop and settle for this income? No!!!!!

Let me tell you what it’s time to do.

1. Go to “Advanced Reports” and create a day by day, aggregate data report for your last month of earnings.
2. Export the report into excel.
3. Go through day by day and highlight your 10 biggest earning days. You will research these later.
4. Once you know your 10 biggest earning days, match them up to the blog posts that made you that income.
5. Make a list of the topics the highest earning posts covered. The more detail you review the better.

How a personal obsession can turn into a popular favorite and maybe even a full-time job.

Eric Nakagawa, a software developer in Hawaii, posted a single photo of a fat, smiling cat he found on the Internet, with the caption, "I can has cheezburger?" in January, 2007, at a Web site he created. It was supposed to be a joke. Soon after he posted a few more images in the same vein: cute cats with funny captions written in a silly, invented hybrid of Internet shorthand and baby-talk. Then he turned the site into a blog, so that visitors could comment on the postings. What happened after that would have been hard for anyone to predict.

"We just thought, O.K., they're funny,"Nakagawa says. "Suddenly we started getting hits. I was like, where are these coming from?"

An Accidental Entrepreneur

He saw traffic on the blog, I Can Has Cheezburger, which he runs with his partner, "Tofuburger" (she refuses to disclose her real name) double each month: 375,000 hits in March, 750,000 in April, 1.5 million in May. Cheezburger now gets 500,000 page views a day from between 100,000 and 200,000 unique visitors, according to Nakagawa. The cheapest ad costs $500 for a week. The most expensive goes for nearly $4,000. Nakagawa, an accidental entrepreneur who saw his successful business materialize out of the ether, quit his programming job at the end of May: "It made more sense to do this and see how big it could get."

Cheezburger's story is unusual in the upper reaches of the blogosphere in that the time between launching and reaching a critical mass of readers who sustain the site is so compressed. But many of the most popular bloggers have similar tales of starting out with a niche idea—an inside joke, a particular obsession—and watching it explode. Of course, most blogs linger in obscurity and are read by only a handful of people, and few ever reach the level Cheezburger has. What about a blog like Cheezburger lets it break away from the pack?

The initial appeal of the blog may have been a fluke, but its growth since then has been part of a tightly controlled experiment to help answer that question. Nakagawa and his partner constantly tweak the site to see what draws readers and what leaves them cold.

"We basically have a playground where people keep coming to play, so we're trying to create new games all the time,"Nakagawa says.

Building a Community

To drive traffic, they try to time their new posts with when people are most likely to be reading: in the mornings, on their lunch breaks, or in the evenings. Early on, when Nakagawa saw the site getting 1,000 page views a day, he added a widget that allows visitors to rate each post on a scale of one to five cheeseburgers. That helped boost traffic to 2,000.

Readers don't just rate or comment on the posts. They create them. Cheezburger depends on its fans to submit pictures, write funny captions, and send them in. Nakagawa has built a tool to let readers select a ready-made photo or upload their own, add and position captions, choose font styles, and submit a finished product. Any visitor can vote on the submissions, and the most popular ones make it to the main page. The function saves Nakagawa from having to find funny captions for photos, and it creates a lasting bond with readers.

That kind of interaction helps make I Can Has Cheezburger as much a community as a blog. A post by one user will inspire another to play off the theme, forming a narrative. "It's like you're creating a story supplied by people in the community, and then the people in the community supply the next part of the story,"Nakagawa says.

From Inside Joke to Job

The idea of building a community around content supplied by users sustains several top blogs, and most put the idea of community ahead of making money. For Heather Cocks and Jessica Morgan, who lampoon celebrity fashion on their blog, Go Fug Yourself, the fact that ad sales on their blog now pay their salaries has not changed what they set out to do from Day One: have fun. "It was one of these inside jokes that we thought was going to just stay an inside joke,"says Cocks.

Part of it has to do with the nature of the medium: Blogging creates a direct connection between authors and readers, a conversation with distinct voices carried out in comments and e-mails and other blogs. Nakagawa wants to see how big that conversation—not to mention his business—can get. "It's kind of like, how far can you take it?" he says.
